The Challenge
PWCC Marketplace conducts some of the highest-value trading card auctions in history, yet eBay’s sheer scale and domain authority made it nearly impossible to compete organically for broad collectibles search terms. PWCC’s strategic opportunity was in the premium and investment-grade segment: serious collectors, sports memorabilia investors, and wealth management clients who treat rare cards as an alternative asset class. These buyers research investment returns, authentication credentials, auction realized prices, and market comps before engaging with a platform. PWCC had the content to serve these buyers but it was not structured for organic discovery.
The collectibles investment content space was largely unclaimed. Queries like “sports card investment returns,” “vintage card auction platform,” and “how to sell collectibles for maximum value” were being answered by generic financial publications, hobbyist blogs, and eBay seller guides, not by the market’s most authoritative auction platform. PWCC’s auction result data, grading expertise, and market knowledge were extraordinary, but that expertise was not being translated into content that could rank and attract high-value consignors and buyers.
A recent platform expansion into vault storage and portfolio management services had created additional organic opportunities that had not been activated. PWCC needed a content and SEO strategy that positioned them as the trusted authority for serious collectibles as an investment class.
Our Approach
We built PWCC’s content strategy around three audiences: active collectors evaluating auction platforms, serious investors approaching collectibles as an asset class, and consignors seeking to maximize realized prices for high-value items. The investment-grade collector content cluster became the core of the SEO program: a 55-piece content series covering card investment fundamentals, population report analysis, PSA/BGS grading guides for key sets, and realized price analysis for historically significant cards.
Consignor acquisition content targeted the specific research queries collectors use when researching how to sell valuable cards. Digital PR targeting sports media, alternative investment publications, and auction news outlets generated earned coverage during major PWCC auction events, with every auction record broken becoming a content and PR opportunity. We also built a programmatic auction results archive, structured pages for each major set, player, and card type with realized price history, capturing the long-tail research queries serious collectors and investors use when tracking market values.

The Results
Organic traffic to PWCC’s commercial and content pages grew 278% in 12 months, with the investment content cluster becoming the platform’s highest organic traffic source within 6 months. Consignor inquiry volume from organic grew 167%, with high-value consignment submissions growing 134%. The combination of digital PR and SEO around three major PWCC auction events generated an estimated $1.4M in auction GMV attribution in the program’s first year.
The programmatic auction results archive generated 34,000 monthly sessions within 9 months. Domain Rating improved from DR 45 to DR 64, driven by 34 earned media placements and 41 editorial backlinks from sports and alternative investment publications. PWCC began appearing in AI Overviews and Perplexity answers for sports card investment queries.
