Google Rolls Out Live Video for Search
Google has just announced the rollout of the full version of Search Live, now featuring video capabilities alongside audio. Starting this week, users in the U.S. who are part of the AI Mode Labs experiment can access this exciting update on mobile.
What’s New?

This new feature was initially demoed during Google I/O in May. Last month, Google released the audio version, and now, it’s taking things up a notch with video.
According to Google, Search Live is fully integrated with Google Lens, which is their visual search tool. Here’s how it works:
- Open Lens in the Google app.
- Tap the Live icon.
- Ask whatever is on your mind while pointing your camera at it.
This setup allows for a dynamic, back-and-forth conversation with Search in AI Mode. Using your live camera feed, you can add extra context, whether it’s different angles or objects in motion, making your interaction feel more natural and engaging.
Have a Conversation with Google

Imagine having a chat with Google about a subject you’re curious about! Previously, your interaction was only verbal. Now, with visual input, Google gets to see what you’re looking at. It’s as if you’re having a dialog with an expert who can respond to your visual cues.
Highlights from Google Team Members
Robby Stein from Google shared the benefits on social media, saying:
“If you want to ask about a hands-on science project or what’s in your textbook, Search Live with video input gives you an AI-powered learning partner that can see what you see. Just point your camera and have a real-time voice conversation with Search.”
Rajan Patel emphasized:
“When you go Live with Search, it’s like having an expert on speed dial that can see what you see. You’ll get helpful audio responses for whatever you want to know, with visual context from your camera—plus links to the web with more info.”
